Square Timber Brewing Co: Pembroke, ON

It appears that the small village of Pembroke, ON will soon be home to a new craft brewery by the name of Square Timber Brewing. Marc Bru, the president of the proposed brewery states on his blog that plans are to open in the Summer of 2009.

Head over to the his site(www.squaretimber.blogspot.com) to see some designs he has in mind for the brewery. There is no mention of what styles of beer he has in mind for production but he is running a poll to see if citizens would support a brewery in the Ottawa Valley? 10 votes with 9 stating that they would absolutely support a craft brewery.

More good news for the Ontario brewing scene.

Hey! I lived in Pembroke from 1992 to 1997 and I can assure you that it is in fact Canada's smallest city, not some village. About one bar stool for every citizen as well, if things are anything like they were 15 years ago. Did you know idea of a "the Mulligan" in golf originated with a Pembroke bartender? Or that there were "29 bootmarks signed with love" as Stompin' Tom sang about the ceiling of the long gone Pembroke Hotel?

Village indeed! ;-)

Haha Alan - I threw village in there to annoy my fiance; she is from Pembroke (lived there 16 years).

Didn't Al Capone own a house in Pembroke at one time?

Al Capone allegedly had a hideout near Quadeville, a place one must see... Al Stewart would say, "In a country where they turn back time".

Best of luck to "Square Timber Brewing"
